Student Exhibition | Eva Claessens Workshop at MACA

The Garzón Cultural is pleased to invite the community to a special exhibition showcasing artworks developed by our students following their participation in the large-format painting workshop led by Eva Claessens at Museo MACA.

This was not a conventional classroom experience. Students had the rare opportunity to work directly with an exhibiting artist within the gallery environment itself. Surrounded by contemporary artworks, they engaged in a hands-on session that included working from a live model and painting on large-scale canvases — an approach that challenged them to think beyond format, proportion, and gesture.

The museum setting invited a different kind of attention: to space, to light, to scale, and to the discipline of observation. Under Claessens’ guidance, students explored composition, movement, and expressive mark-making while navigating the demands and freedoms of working at a larger physical dimension.

The resulting works reflect courage, focus, and a willingness to step into an authentic artistic context. This exhibition celebrates not only the final pieces, but the process — the encounter between young artists and contemporary practice.
