Gala Night | A Dance Journey is a captivating and original performance that blends the elegance of classical and contemporary ballet with the energy of urban dance, tango, and circus arts. Dancers and musicians on stage showcase their talent with passion and intensity.
The work is a synthesis of the different stages of the career of its creator and director, Rosina Gil, former Principal Dancer of the SODRE Ballet. With the support of Julio Bocca, she brings together her diverse professional experiences in a production designed to enchant audiences of all backgrounds.
Presented for the first time in José Ignacio at the Pavilion Vik, the performance features Ciro Tamayo, Principal Dancer of the National Ballet of SODRE (BNS), as well as a striking Cyr Wheel act performed by Mateo Vega, completing a truly unique multidisciplinary experience.
About Rosina Gil
An internationally acclaimed artist and former Principal Dancer of the BNS, Rosina Gil has performed with companies such as Deborah Colker and the renowned Cirque du Soleil. In 2010, Maestro Julio Bocca brought her back to Uruguay to take on leading roles at the National Ballet of SODRE. Recently retired from the BNS, she received the Bartolomé Hidalgo Award for her book After Ballet. This production represents the culmination of her professional journey, combining ballet, contemporary dance, and circus arts.
About Ciro Tamayo
Spanish dancer Ciro Tamayo has been Principal Dancer of the BNS since 2014. He trained at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma and The Royal Ballet School, joining the BNS in 2011 under the artistic direction of Julio Bocca. He has appeared as a guest dancer with the English National Ballet and the National Ballet of Cuba, performing a wide-ranging repertoire by internationally renowned choreographers. Recently, he has expanded his career into acting, singing, and acrobatics, and served as a jury member at the prestigious Danzamérica International Dance Competition. Tamayo is internationally acclaimed for his powerful jumps and expressive performances.
