Experience Uruguay’s Rich Culinary Heritage at the Festival Pan y Queso 2026

Mar 16, 2026

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, La Barra de Punta del Este once again becomes the epicenter of Uruguay’s artisanal food culture with the 3rd annual Festival Pan y Queso at Narbona. This free-entry gastronomic celebration brings together more than 35 artisans from across the country, offering over 350 tastings of handcrafted breads and cheeses alongside insights into traditional production techniques and the stories behind these beloved culinary staples. The event has grown rapidly since its debut — after attracting around 4,000 visitors in its first year and 5,000 in its second, this edition aims to surpass 6,000 attendees, solidifying its place as one of Uruguay’s most vibrant and popular food festivals.

Beyond sampling exceptional local flavors, visitors can explore a wide range of experiences for all ages. The festival will feature workshops on bread and cheese making for children and adults, talks and success stories from producers and entrepreneurs, and live music throughout the day. Expanded tastings will include specialty coffee, artisanal gelato, charcuterie, craft beers, and fine wines, creating a full sensory experience that highlights Uruguay’s gastronomic identity. With support from public and private partners, Festival Pan y Queso not only celebrates artisanal tradition but also champions local producers and strengthens Punta del Este’s role as a year-round cultural and culinary destination.
