30 Years of Medio y Medio - Festival 2026

A renowned jazz club and restaurant located just 100 meters from Playa Portezuelo, in Punta Ballena, Maldonado Department, Uruguay.

Medio y Medio 2026 marks the celebration of 30 years of a journey that began in December 1995 and has been shaped by all kinds of adventures. Looking back invites reflection on how this project was built, the role of those who made it possible, and the long list of names that, in its early years, once seemed unimaginable. This history is woven from personal, family, and territorial stories, always with the certainty that Medio y Medio could not have been born anywhere other than Punta Ballena.

A utopian vision, the momentum of constant work, and a persistent desire to escape routine became essential driving forces behind a proposal that blends local identity with a strong commitment to artistic excellence. From this perspective also emerges an awareness of the importance of all those who have inhabited Punta Ballena—a territory that became inseparable from the project. This bond is reflected in the 30th anniversary artwork—a collage by Argentine artist Carolina Santantonin—which places the figure of Don Antonio Lussich as a symbolic vessel for the stories of the venue, the festival, and the land where they were born.

Within this ongoing dialogue between place and project, the celebration pays tribute both to the people of this land and to the more than one thousand artists who have taken the stage over the years.
